Coyotes commit forwards Glen, Houston from ACAC's Portage College

The Okanagan College men's hockey program is excited to announce commitments from forwards Chris Glen (Vernon, B.C.) and Miles Houston (Kelowna, B.C.) to join the Coyotes for the 2011/12 British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League season.

Both Glen and Houston played last season with the Portage College Voyageurs of the Alberta Collegiate Athletics Conference.

Glen captained the Voyageurs during the 2010/11 season and finished third in team scoring with 12 goals and 25 points in 28 games played. His three-year totals from the ACAC include 32 goals and 69 points, along with 34 panelty minutes, over 80 games. The 25-year old also spent a season at Utah Valley University, where he scored 37 goals in 34 games during the 2007/08 campaign, and starred for the Nelson Leafs and Grand Forks Border Bruins of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League as a junior.

Houston spent two seasons at Portage College, scoring twice and totalling nine points and 57 penalty minutes in 35 games. The 23-year old joined the Voyageurs from the KIJHL's Nelson Leafs after an outstanding season in 2008/09 that saw him finish fourth in league scoring with 28 goals and 71 points in 44 games. His career junior totals 67 goals, 163 points and 352 penalty minutes in 123 games.

"Both Chris and Miles are valuable players who come from a very competitive and respected college hockey league in the ACAC," says Okanagan College general manager Kolby Barnstable. "We are very pleased that Chris and Miles have decided to join our team for the upcoming season."

"Both are strong, physical players who have a history of producing offensively and we are confident they will be key contributors for our club. Their combined ability, leadership and experience should be a big boost as we set out to capture our first BCIHL championship."

The additions of Glen and Houston brings the Coyotes' recruiting class for the 2011/12 season to seven. They join former Lloydminster Bobcats Steve Dobbin and Cory Hodgins, along with Yorkton Terriers defenceman Keon Vick, former Powell River King defenseman Alex MacDougall and KIJHL standout Layne Stopanski.
