Coyotes add to blueline with addition of KIJHL All-Star McDougall

The Okanagan College Men’s Hockey program is pleased to announce a playing commitment from Creston Valley Thundercats defenceman Alex McDougall to suit up for the Coyotes for the 2011/12 British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League season.

McDougall, from Whitehorse, YK, finished his junior career as a Kootenay International Junior Hockey League All-Star while helping to lead the Thundercats to a second place finish in the league’s Eddie Mountain division. He scored twice and added 18 assists and 210 penalty minutes for Creston while providing a shut-down presence against the opposition’s top scorers.

The 21-year old previously spent two seasons with the Powell River Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League, picking up six points in 64 Junior A games while helping his team to consecutive Coastal Conference championships and a pair of Fred Page Cup appearances.

“Alex comes to us with four years of junior experience with two excellent organizations in Creston and Powell River,” says Coyotes general manager Kolby Barnstable. “We expect him to quickly grow into an important player who can provide big minutes and play in key situations.”

Yorkton Terriers blueliner Keon Vick commits to Okanagan College

The Okanagan College Men’s Hockey program is pleased to announce a playing commitment from Yorkton Terriers defenceman Keon Vick to suit up for the Coyotes for the 2011/12 British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League season.

Vick, from Medicine Hat, AB, played two seasons on the Yorkton blueline and most recently netted 11 points in 38 games to help the Terriers reach the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Credit Union Cup Finals.

His career Junior A totals include three goals and 14 assists in 89 games split between Yorkton and the AJHL’s Brooks Bandits.

“Keon provides a steady, veteran presence on defence and helps add to an already deep group of blueliners,” says Coyotes general manager Kolby Barnstable. “We love his steady influence from the back end and the physical element he can bring to our team. His experience and leadership will help us in reaching our ultimate goal of winning our first BCIHL Championship.”

Vick joins Steve Dobbin and Cody Hodgins, both of the AJHL's Lloydminster Bobcats, as Coyotes' commits for the fall.
