Okanagan College Crusaders finished off the 2009/2010 inaugural season will a Third Place finish. After beating TWU 6 - 2 in the first game of the playoff tournament, the Cru went on to face SFU in game two.
Despite the strong effort, SFU came away with the win in game two, 4 - 2.
With one lose and one win under their belts, Okanagan College Crusaders moved on to face underdog team TWU. TWU came off an upset the night before, beating UFV 4 - 3 and was looking to ride their momentum into the rink to face the Cru. In what looked to be an easy win for the Crusaders, the Titans rallied back to tie the game and push it into overtime.
Overtime solved nothing, and the game needed to be solved in a shootout. Crusaders Goaltender Adam Butler was stellar in net leading to the Crusader's win in Shootout over the Titans.
Following the Crusader win, top seed SFU faced second seed TRU to decide who moved on to the championship final, and who would face the Okanagan College Crusaders in semi-final play. In what turned out to be the highest scoring game of the Playoffs, TRU pulled off the win, 10 - 7 over the SFU Clan, and advanced to the Championship finals.
All that was left was a game two rematch between the top seed SFU Clan, and the fourth seed Okanagan College Crusaders.
All season the Cru had given SFU a run for their money, and it was evident again in the semi-final game. SFU came out hard, jumping out to a 2 goal lead in the first, but the Crusaders squad battled back scoring a goal in the second period and another to tie the game up and push it into overtime.
Overtime solved nothing, and for the second game in a row, in the same day, the Crusaders were off to a shootout that would determine their playoff fates.
Crusaders forward Matt Elia started things off with a beautiful goal that placed all the pressure on SFU. Unfortunately it wasn't enough as SFU prevailed and ended the Crusaders hopes at a Championship game birth.
In the Final, SFU pulled off the victory winning 2 - 1 over TRU, and secured their place as 2010 BCIHL Champions.
